Necklace
for Willem van Oranje necklace | Iron,
polystyreen | Collection CODA Museum, Apeldoorn, NL
Jewelry
with a Story
I made this necklace in 2007 as an assigment for the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn,
NL .
The necklace is for Willem van Oranje. Sawn out in iron are the seven
provincies from 1658 of The Netherlands. The layer above are sawn out
handwritings of Willem van Oranje.
Jewelry
with a Story is an annual jewelry event held in the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn,
NL. Every year guest curator Claartje Keur asks a young jewelery maker
(younger as 35 years of age) to design and make a necklace fort his event.
Conditions are that the necklace has a story, it needs to be wearable,
and suitable for man and woman.
CODA began Jewelry with a Story in 2005, with the goal to interest people
for modern jewelry. The invitation and assignment for a young and promising
artist are meant as an accouragement.
